Match Report: Ballynahinch United 1 – 3 Portaferry Rovers

Ballynahinch United kicked off the season with a Steel and Sons cup tie against Portaferry Rovers.

The away team took an early lead after an unavoidable penalty decision.

Greg Hall marshalled the defence allowing the home side to adjust to the fluid formation of the opposition. Calum Ferguson had two headed opportunities with one hitting the crossbar.

The second half flowed fairly evenly with Ballynahinch slightly on top but Portaferry added another on the break. The 1B side then scored a third.

Undeterred, The Blues fought on but didn’t make the most of their chances until Robbie Lurring pulled one back. It was too late to mount a serious comeback.
