Annual Dinner and Awards 2025-2026

We held our annual awards dinner at Spa Golf Club for the 2025-2026 season.

Chairman Anthony Greene greeted guests and thanked all the players, coaches, volunteers and sponsors for their efforts after a long, hard season. He also reminded all in attendance that preseason will return in June with all new players welcome.

Albion Manager, Matthew Lindsay kicked off the award-giving after what turned out to be a good year for the third team with 10 wins (out of 20 games) and a fourth place finish in NADAFL Division 2.

The first award was Albion Leading Goalscorer which was presented to Lee Maxwell after 9 goals in 13 games.

With 5 man of the match awards from the 9 games he completed, Will McNeill picked up the Albion Manager’s Player of the Year award. The award was presented to club supporter Robert Creighton in Will’s absence on the night.

Scott Brashaw picked up Player’s Player of the Year after another stellar year with 4 Man of the Match awards and 3 goals in 11 appearances which drove the Albion up the league. It must be one of the only trophies he hadn’t previously collected before.

Gareth Bingham stepped up next to present the Swifts awards after retaking the reigns in February alongside Davy Teggarty.

It was Davy’s grandson first up to receive the Swift’s Leading Goalscorer award, with 5 goals in the Swift’s last 5 games, Matthew Douglas. The goalscoring form had also saw him earn a call up for his first team debut in April, when he also scored.

The Swifts manager then called out the winner of Manager’s Player of the Year, with Ben Wilson collecting the award for the second consecutive year.

Another experienced player picked up the Players Player of the Year for the Swifts with Captain Greg Blunt receiving the most votes after an ever-present season in the heart of defence.

First Team Manager, Jonathan Smith and First Team Coach, Sam Lockhart stepped up to present the next awards after taking over in November 2025.

Teenager Ben Maxwell picked up Leading Goalscorer after 5 goals in 19 games, with some absolute crackers to boot.

Another of the club’s experienced players collected the Manager’s Player of the Year, with Glenn Bennett the beneficiary.

The First Team’s Players Player of the Year award was awarded to the man with the most appearances, who played out of position without complaining and put in the hard yards at every training session and match. Glenn Moffett, who only join in summer 2025, took the plaudits from the front.
