Ballynahinch travelled to Millisle to take on 1A side Abbey Villa in the first round of the Clarence Cup.
It was the home side who scored first after 10 minutes when a cross found a late runner at the back post for an easy tap in.
United responded quickly when Naseem Ouldhamlat stretched the defence with a run in behind. His square ball found Robbie Lurring who jinked past a defender to equalise.
A long-range effort found the bottom corner just minutes later to retain Abbey Villa’s lead until the break.
United battled back in the second half with Robbie proving dangerous on the left but was unable to produce another equaliser.
Villa increased their lead and then added a fourth late in the game to progress to the next round.
It was a good performance from United against title challengers, unbeaten in 1A.
Thanks to Abbey Villa for their hospitality after the game.
