United faced promotion favourites Finaghy in their first away game of 1C at Breda Park.
The pitch was immaculate and so was Stefan Graham. With the favourites bombarding the goal, United’s skipper stood tall and strong and kept everything at bay while the team ahead of him showcased a decisive defensive display although the Blues first half chances from Glenn Bennett, Gavin Crawford and Gregg Allison fell short at the final hurdle.
United started the second half strongly with Gregg’s cross finding Taylor Graham at the back post. His cross-cum-shot was turned towards goal only to be deflected for a corner by Finaghy’s keeper, somewhat fortunately.
Finaghy went ahead shortly after from a spot kick.
More chances came United’s way but couldn’t be converted, while Stefan continued to berate a barrage of attacks.
A scintillating one-touch move created an opening for Finaghy’s second, while a thunderbolt third completed the scoring for the home team.
