Smith appointed as First Team Manager

Ballynahinch United is pleased to announce Jonny Smith as our new First Team Manager.

Jonny joins from Newtown Forest after impressing the Club Committee in a successful application and interview process against other candidates.

At Newtown Forest, Jonny held multiple coaching and managerial roles progressing through the ranks.

Jonny holds an UEFA C Diploma and is keen to contribute to our future developments on and off the pitch.

The club are excited to welcome Jonny onboard and will endeavour to provide him with the support required to bring success.

Anthony Greene, Ballynahinch United Chairman, said “We were impressed by Jonny’s approach and attention to detail during the selection process. We will support him with what he needs and know the players will get behind him. We hope this will be reflected in our results and performances.”

Upon joining, the new manager said “I’m delighted to be given this opportunity by the club to come in as first team manager. There’s going to be a lot of hard work ahead but I’m looking forward to meeting everyone… and setting some foundations for future success.”

Graeme Bailey will remain as Goalkeeper Coach, while Mark Leahy will continue as the First Team Assistant Coach. We would like to thank both for looking after the team on an interim basis, including picking up three valuable points against Orangefield OB.

Jonny’s tenure will kick off on 22 November away to Tullycarnet before his first home fixture versus Woodvale on 29 November.

Ballynahinch United would like to thank all applicants for their interest in the role.

We would also like to thank Kyle Rendall for his dedication and efforts after resigning as First Team Manager. Kyle will remain as part of the Club Committee to continue to develop the facilities at The Millbridge.
