Teggarty steps aside

David Teggarty has stepped aside as Swifts Assistant Manager after the resignation of Gareth Bingham.

Teggarty will remain on the Club Committee and continue to represent the club at Newcastle League meetings, and available to help anywhere when needed.

Davy joined forces with Bingy in May 2017 and has been a key part of the team, guiding young and old players alike throughout matches in the Newcastle and Disrtict Amateur Leagues.

The much respected former teacher has a wealth of experience and success at the club having previously led the Albion to Bignian Cup success.

Before joining the Swifts with Gareth, Teggarty was Albion Manager before being promoted to Swifts Manager in August 2013. He held the position until 2016. During these years, Davy awarded his Manager’s Player of the Year awards to Shaun Bonner (2013/14) and Gareth Bingham (2014/15 and 2015/16). He previously award John McMenamin the award for the Albion in 2012/13.

Davy has played for, managed and assisted every team at the club, and been synomonous with Ballynahinch United since the beginning in 1968. Many spectators are known to have enjoyed Davy’s quick-witted comments on the sideline, perhaps more than the football on show. Opposing players, on the other hand, would not have enjoyed the interactions quite so much.

On the pitch, Davy captained the side to League success in 1976 picking up the NAFL Division 2A trophy.

The Club would like to eternally thank Davy for his massive contribution to the club throughout his tenures across the years. His dedication and hard-work for Ballynahinch United has been exlempary.

If you would like to express an interest in the Swifts Manger role, please get in touch.
